It's truly a tribute to inventors, engineers, and designers. It shows the American spirit of ingenuity through inventions and discoveries over the years. It also has a lot of items of historical importance, from the presidents, to civil rights, to the founding fathers! This is a Five Minute Field Trip you won't want to miss! 5 Grand Cavern Rd, Grottoes, VA 24441Are you ready for one of the oldest shown caves in the country or the world? The Grand Caverns in Grottoes, Virginia is a perfect set of caves in my opinion. Not only are they reasonably priced and accompanied by a nice gift shop, but they're a pretty easy walk (Even Amazing Andrea at age 4 managed the 70 minute walk), and they're filled with hundreds of cool structures. No other cave I've been in yet has so many structures in so few steps!
The tour guides are knowledgeable and fun, and there is just so much to see. There might be bigger, longer, or deeper caves, but this one seems about perfect to us! Mackinac Island, MIWant a Five Minute Field Trip that can keep your family busy for a few days? This might be it!
To get to Mackinac Island, Michigan, you need to take a ferry ride. Check for coupons and deals, and buy tickets online to save! Once you're there, you can do a LOT of walking and hiking, or look into horse taxis, horse carriage tours, rental bikes, and a lot of options to get around. When you're there:
Plus, this all requires a great boat ride back and forth, which may include a quick tour of the Mackinac Bridge! This is more expensive than most of our trips, but if you pack some snacks and only visit outside most of the locations, it can still be reasonably priced! 42 03-12 #426-002, Mackinaw City, MI 49701Like traditional living and American History? Like to learn about the French & Indian War or British life in early America? This is a great place to visit!
For Michilimackinac is a wooden palisade fort at the Straits of Mackinac. With people portraying life in colonial Michigan, this is an interesting visit for sure. It's also right next to the Mackinac Bridge, making it a pretty scenic location! If you're doing the Mackinaw City area, this is a great stop, and then you can hit the island on another day! |
