There are a lot of options here, and they also have traveling exhibits, like the 50 year Apollo program science exhibit that was available when we visited! Definitely check out the Ringling Museum if you're in SW Florida!
On Mondays, you can take in the Art Museum for FREE! Other days, you can walk the grounds and gardens for FREE! And, you can always tour the Ca' d'Zan home and the Circus Museums if you buy tickets. The only other thing we've seen in Florida that compares is Vizcaya in the Miami area. This is great, but for different reasons. It's not a huge place, but it's a great stop off for 60-90-120 minutes. The tour guides know about all the history of the place and can tell you about the meaning behind every one of the special stones. This is a fun place if you like:
