11901 Rod and Gun Club Rd, Fort Myers, FL 33913 Can't get enough nature and fresh air? Check out the Wild Turkey Strand Preserve! With some military history and lots of trails, you can explore the 3000+ acres of nature preserves south of Lehigh Acres in the Fort Myers area.
It's a great area to find wildflowers, check out local birds, and possibly even see some wildlife! Bring some water and some hiking boots. A good portion of the trail is paved or boardwalk, but around half of it may be marshy or even under water during the wet parts of the year. Winter and early spring might be your best times to visit, but you can do the solid trail parts all year! Get walking! 215 Seminole Ave, Ormond Beach, FL 32176 Looking for a great beach on the Atlantic side of Florida? Ormond Beach is a great one! It's not as busy as some of those nearby, which is great when you don't want to go shoulder-to-shoulder with swimmers. But, it still has all of the charm of an Atlantic beach.
Sometimes the winds and waves get strong enough to try surfing or boarding. You can drive a car down the length of the beach if you get a sticker, too. This is definitely a beach worth checking out! 4931 South Peninsula Drive - Ponce Inlet, FL 32127 Looking to climb some steps? Look no further! Climb the Ponce De Leon Lighthouse at Ponce Inlet, Florida. It's the highest Lighthouse in Florida!
Also check out the lighthouse keepers' homes and lifestyle memorabilia. Additionally, there is a whole building dedicated to the beacons and lights from lighthouses! Some of them are just HUGE! |
